Virtual walking tour of Queens College campus

Hello all, Queens Memory has recently put together a walking tour of the QC campus<http://www.historypin.org/channels/view/35643/#!tours/view/id/4975/title/Qu…> on the Historypin site. The tour consists of 15 historic campus photos from the QC Special Collections & Archives, spanning from the 1920s through the 2000s. You can view the photos as a virtual tour from your desktop, but if you'd like to actually walk through the locations, there is a campus map on the web page that indicates the spots pictured. It is easier to view the map on a tablet than a smartphone. Enjoy, and all feedback is welcome! Readers Needed to Review Scholarship Applications

Dear all, Once again, Queens College is a partner institution with the Asian & Pacific Islander American Scholarship Fund (APIASF). This means that our students are eligible to receive generous funding and to participate in mentoring and other professional development activities through APIASF. APIASF relies on volunteer readers, so I'm writing to invite you to take part in reviewing applications for the APIASF Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institution (AANAPISI) Scholarship Program. Applications can be reviewed completely online and at your own pace. The APIASF AANAPISI Scholarship Program is a collaboration with AANAPISIs and the communities they serve to provide scholarships, expand institutional capacity and mobilize local resources to help foster economic development. How can you help? volunteers are needed between October 16, 2015 and November 16, 2015. Readers will have access to a secure website to review scholarship applications. To ensure that there are enough readers to evaluate all applications, readers are asked to commit to reading a minimum of 20 applications. Each application takes approximately 10-15 minutes to review. All volunteers, new & returning, are required to review a training document (PDF). The training covers basic information related to education in the Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander communities and provides an overview of the review and scoring process. All readers must have an undergraduate college diploma and/or 7-10 years of work experience. Readers do not need to be of AAPI ethnicity. With the average person now having more than five career and job changes in their work life it is necessary to understand how businesses are created and how to build an economic life that is rewarding. The best way to learn business is by doing it therefore in our talk we will discuss where do entrepreneurial business concepts come from and how do entrepreneurs structure and articulate those ideas concisely to test whether they may have a receptive market. The Queens College Tech Incubator will be hosting the second week of their Ruby on Rails study group. The study group will be held during Wednesday free hour (12:15pm to 1:40pm) in CEP Hall 2. The study group will be based on the following course, week 2: https://www.coursera.org/specializations/ruby-on-rails. The course is FREE to audit so please be sure to choose the free option. There will be a project to be done at the end of the series of courses to show off your new skills! Please come to the study group having completed week 1 (computer environment setup). Please watch the lectures PRIOR to the study group. Additionally, please bring your own laptops as we do not supply computers. With Google Apps, you can create documents and websites, store and share files, create and share calendars, and much more. Using QC Google Apps for Education has some advantages over using the commercial version of Google Apps (including unlimited Google Drive storage space and compliance with FERPA regulations) and gives you access to some specialized software not available in the public Google Apps environment.
