On behalf of Brais Outes-León, Director of the Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship: Dear Colleagues, The Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship (MMUF) will be hosting its first Open House of the year on November 2, 2022 during the Free Hour (12.15-1.30pm) at Honors Hall, Room 17. I would very much appreciate if you could circulate the flyer for the event among faculty members in your departments as well as among exceptional students that you think would be interested in pursuing a career in academia. The event is designed as an information session in which undergraduate students will have an opportunity to learn more about the program from current and former fellows. Food will be served! The Mellon Mays Program supports outstanding undergraduate students from underrepresented backgrounds to successfully apply for PhD Programs in the Humanities and the Social Sciences. The MMUF Program provides its participating fellows with both academic and financial support, including: * A 2-year living stipend * Summer funding * A Mentoring Program * Writing Workshops for College Applications The MMUF is an exceptional program that creates a perfect space for the academic growth and development of undergraduate students of great promise. Using Navigate Alerts for Your Students

To: Faculty, Staff On behalf of Nathalia Holtzman, Interim Associate Provost for Innovation and Student Success: Worried about one of your students? Are they missing essential assignments? Are they struggling to pass tests? Reaching out to and working with students directly is ideal, but if you want additional direct messaging to lead them to use the free academic support resources on campus, use the QC Navigate Alert tool. Initiating a Navigate Alert on your students pings the QC Learning Commons, who then reach out to the student to let them know you are concerned and offers to connect them with free academic support services. Alerts available on Navigate: * Missing Essential Assignments * Needs Academic Support What happens when you open an alert? * Your student gets an automated email indicating that an alert was issued by an instructor, with information about accessing academic support. * 1-3 days later, the student gets an email and a text from the QC Keep Learning office, notifying the student to email you (messaging includes your QC email address) and reinforcing that free academic support services are available. QC Scholarships Application Review Committee: Volunteers needed

Dear Colleagues, I hope this message finds you well. As many of you know, an important issue for our student body is finding additional funding to pay for their education. Through the generosity of our QC alumni and the QC Foundation, we will be able to provide support to many of these students seeking financial support. However, to do this effectively and within a very small timeframe, we need your help! The Honors and Scholarships team is seeking 25+ volunteers to serve on the QC Foundation Scholarships Application Review Committee. Collectively, the committee will have the opportunity to review over 800+ applications. Dear All, I'm writing to let you know about changes to the fellowships office. I have accepted a position at another institution, and my last day here at QC is the 30th. I don't know who will be taking over my responsibilities permanently, but during the transition, Taruna Sadhoo, Director of Honors will be coordinating things. On behalf of the Baruch Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL): The Open-Source Digital Tools for Teaching seminar, hosted by the Baruch Center for Teaching and Learning, offers faculty an opportunity to discover and develop skills with technologies that will build engagement among students and faculty in and out of the classroom space. We’ll discuss the affordances of openly-licensed and accessible digital platforms that diversify opportunities to learn.
