Dear colleagues, I wanted to send out a reminder about our upcoming writing pedagogy workshop on Monday, November 18th during free hour. A light lunch will be served. Revisiting Writing in Our Classrooms: How to get students to write what you want November 18 12:15-1:30p in the President’s Conference Room 1 (RO 527) While students are taught relatively formulaic writing in K-12 and general research and writing skills in foundational writing courses, our disciplinary practices quickly diverge into specialized needs in our W classes. This workshop will cover how to communicate our unique disciplinary expectations to our students and design corresponding assignments and in-class activities that effectively teach the expectations of research, thinking, and writing in your field. This workshop will also discuss how teaching disciplinary writing is affected by generative AI. On behalf of the CUNY Teaching & Learning Conference Implementation Team: Dear Colleagues, The CUNY Innovative Teaching Academy (CITA)<https://www.cuny.edu/academics/faculty-affairs/cuny-innovative-teaching-aca…> is proud to announce its second CUNY-wide Teaching and Learning Conference<https://www.cuny.edu/academics/faculty-affairs/cuny-innovative-teaching-aca…> designed to support, elevate, and recognize faculty teaching excellence. The Conference will be held on April 3, 2025 (virtually) and April 4, 2025 (in person) at the CUNY Graduate Center. This year we have expanded our program to incorporate more sessions across two days, one virtual and one in-person. Inspire lifelong learning: Encourage a commitment to continuous professional development among educators and learners alike. 4. Foster collaboration: Facilitate connections and networking among participants from diverse educational backgrounds. 5. Advance educational technology: Explore the integration of technology in education and its impact on the learning experience. Session Format: Proposed sessions can fall under the following categories: Panel with Multiple Presenters (60 mins), Interactive Talk (10-15 min), Hands-On Workshop Facilitation (30-45 min), and In-Person Poster (30 min). We encourage presenters to select a format which will allow them to deliver engaging and meaningful learning experiences.
