Hello Everyone! It is National Nutrition Month throughout March! We are taking this time to advocate Public Policy and Public Health in the world of Dietetics! There is a lot going on and we think its important for future dietitians to know about! Thank you again for joining us for Welcome Day. I hope Jodi Wright was able to answer your questions regarding the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) and how they effect the profession and education of dietitians across the country. UPCOMING MEETING ANNOUNCEMENT! Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Day is this month! Help us celebrate our local RDNs and fellow dietetics students at our QCDC Meeting on Wednesday, March 17th! Members in attendance will receive a QCDC T-Shirt in the mail! What better way to promote the role of RD’s to the public and the media than with repping some sweet QC Dietetics SWAG! On Wednesday, March 17th @ 12:15pm join the QCDC and Kathleen Hiltwine for a discussion of her work as a Public Health Nutrition Consultant and Nutrition Education Coordinator in the Bureau of WIC at the Pennsylvania Department of Health! Kathleen trains, supports, and provides 24 local agencies technical assistance in implementing the WIC program in their respective geographic area. More specifically, her responsibility includes engaging with stakeholders, grant writing, program monitoring, answering questions related to federal regulations and state policy, training local agency staff on various nutrition education-related topics, developing nutrition education and training resources, and most recently, implementing telehealth! Brief survey for DPD/CPD students closes tomorrow!

*The study will close tomorrow, Tuesday, March 2 by midnight MST.* ------------------------------ Dear Student, Kathryn Coakley, PhD RDN, a researcher in the College of Education & Human Sciences at the University of New Mexico is conducting a research study. The purpose of the study is to examine the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on dietetics students in the United States. You are eligible to participate if you are at least 18 years of age, were enrolled in an ACEND Accredited Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) or Coordinated Program in Dietetics (CPD) in fall 2020 and are currently enrolled in a DPD or CPD in the United States. If you agree to participate, you will complete an online survey that contains demographic questions and questions assessing how COVID-19 has impacted your educational experience including academic performance. The survey should take less than 10 minutes to complete. At the end of the survey, you will have the option to enter your email address to be eligible to receive a $25 electronic Amazon gift card. 25 participants who provide their email address will be randomly selected to receive a gift card at the end of the study in mid-May 2021. Your email address will be destroyed at this time. Risks include the potential for emotional stress, boredom, or fatigue during the survey. Joining us will be Jodi Wright, PhD, RD, CDN, RDH. Jodi is a Senior Education Manager with the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics. She was formerly the Didactic Program Director at Long Island University (LIU) – Post Campus Brookville, NY. She also served as the undergraduate program Director at LIU. Jodi has served as an ACEND program reviewer for both the 2017 and FEM standards. She provides staff support to the ACEND Standards Committee and Board in their work on the Future Education Model Accreditation Standards.
