Gslisadjuncts CHECKLIST FOR MINIMALLY ACCEPTABLE PAPERS
Dear Colleagues: In anticipation of the inclusion of our program's goals into individual syllabi matched to the course's student learning outcomes, which we agreed to in full faculty meeting, Drs. Cool and Alexander are working on a template to facilitate general compliance in the form and arrangement of all syllabi which will be forthcoming shortly. (Content of what is taught is still within the discretion of the faculty member, with the proviso that there has to be continuity among core courses.) At the same meeting yesterday where a group of us swapped syllabi to discuss this, it was decided to suggest that the attached checklist be included in the template as an optional inclusion for faculty on their individual syllabi. Before it is included, however, as its originator, I wanted to see if anyone wanted any particular annoyance added. All comments welcome. Thanks, Mary K. Chelton
Dear all, I find this very helpful. I would like to add the following: 1. There is a header on pages other than the title page that includes the student's name and the assignment title. 2. When papers are posted or emailed, there is a naming convention that identifies the student and the assignment. And note, if this Checklist is distributed, these rules should be also followed, e.g. pages numbered. Hi Lauren, My only concern with item 1 is if the assignment in question is a research paper. For research papers, APA Style requires a running head on pages after the title page, flush left, that reads TITLE OF YOUR PAPER, as per example at http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/560/01/ It is not supposed to include the student's name.
