Reminder: Revisiting Writing in Our Classrooms: How to get students to write what you want, November 18
Dear colleagues, I wanted to send out a reminder about our upcoming writing pedagogy workshop on Monday, November 18th during free hour. A light lunch will be served. Revisiting Writing in Our Classrooms: How to get students to write what you want November 18 12:15-1:30p in the President’s Conference Room 1 (RO 527) While students are taught relatively formulaic writing in K-12 and general research and writing skills in foundational writing courses, our disciplinary practices quickly diverge into specialized needs in our W classes. This workshop will cover how to communicate our unique disciplinary expectations to our students and design corresponding assignments and in-class activities that effectively teach the expectations of research, thinking, and writing in your field. This workshop will also discuss how teaching disciplinary writing is affected by generative AI.
