Political Leaps of Faith Application Due Friday

Join the *Political Leaps of Faith Fellowship* <https://docs.google.com/forms/u/1/d/e/1FAIpQLSd5_bhSERwQg6VSt3DIM1ZOFbmRH5W…> which invites individuals from across political lines to get to know one another. We will work towards breaking down stereotypes and encouraging trans- political collaboration. CERRU is partnering with New York Republican & Community Organizer Pierry Benjamin, to create a balanced space for the experiential project. Those chosen for the cohort will work together from March 7th - April 18th on Thursdays 4-6pm. Sessions will include engaging in difficult conversations, media literacy, social identity, party history, political leveraging, forms of civic engagement, and tools for organizing and campaigning. Students will be provided pizza or other small meal during sessions. Queens Memory Archives Tour at Langston Hughes Library

Happy New Year, everyone! Queens Memory is pleased to invite you to our first "Volunteers in the Vaults" gathering of 2019! We will meet this Thursday, January 10, at the Langston Hughes Library & Cultural Center (100-01 Northern Blvd., Corona, NY), from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. Attendees will be treated to a specially selected exhibit of materials from the library's extensive Black Heritage Reference Collection, assembled by curator Christine Zarett (an alum of Queens College's Graduate School of Library and Information Studies!). Highlights will include a vinyl recording of Langston Hughes himself; a copy of "Fire," the literary journal he produced; and pamphlets from various Civil Rights initiatives. As always, we will provide light snacks and the opportunity to discuss possible Queens-related oral history projects and network with Queens Memory volunteers and staff. Queens Memory is jointly sponsored by the Queens Library and Queens College. Faculty are welcome to come discuss ideas for class oral history projects. Call for Participants: Strategies for Teaching Online: Developing Online and Hybrid Courses - Spring 2019

The Center for Teaching & Learning is offering an eight-week summer workshop on the development and implementation of online and hybrid courses (courses that blend online and face-to-face instruction). Faculty from all academic disciplines are invited to apply by completing this form: https://tinyurl.com/cfp-teach-online-spring-2019 Please apply no later than **December 23, 2018.** Selected participants will be notified by **December 28, 2018.** No experience teaching online is necessary, but space is limited so we will give priority to participants who will teach at least one hybrid or online course in summer/fall 2019 and/or winter/spring 2020. Harlem Gallery Exhibits Queens Memory Story Quilt

Hello all, Queens Memory is honored to have our Community Story Quilt, created this past summer at a series of workshops at Flushing Library, included in the Walls-Ortiz Gallery<https://www.facebook.com/WallsOrtizGalleryandCenter/> as part of its "Conversations with Harriet and Frederick: Stories Told, Journeys Unfold" exhibit, from Dec. 13, 2018, through Feb. 28, 2019. The theme of the exhibit that connects with our quilt is the idea of "making visible the stories of lesser known journeys." There will be an opening reception and artist panel discussion this Thursday, Dec. 13, from 5 to 7 pm, and our own teaching artist (and QC graduate art student) Naomi Kuo will be featured on the panel.
