>From Hefer Bembenutty, Chair, Subcommittee on Honorary Degrees and Associate Professor of Educational Psychology: The Subcommittee on Honorary Degrees invites nominations for honorary degrees to be conferred at the 2026 commencement ceremony. The awarding of honorary degrees is a major component of the college's commencement program--a public recognition of worthy individuals, including prominent alumni, as we celebrate our own graduates. Your help in identifying potential honorees is essential if we are to continue this tradition. As the nomination process involves several levels of validation, including the Academic Senate, the President, and the CUNY Board of Trustees, in addition to notifying nominees whose schedules are usually very full, nominations must be made as soon as possible. The deadline for receipt of nominations is Wednesday, October 15th. Please consider the following criteria when making your nominations: * The nominee should have national stature in some intellectual endeavor represented at the college. * Alternatively, the nominee may be honored for making significant contributions to the mission of the college. * The nominee should have a national and/or international reputation. QC Scholarships: Class Visits (Sign Up Now) & Review Committee Volunteers Needed

My team is organizing classroom visits, where we’ll briefly tell students about the QC scholarship application process and relevant national opportunities. We greatly appreciate any time you're able to give us to let more students know about these opportunities. 1. The Honors and Scholarships team is seeking volunteers to serve on the Scholarships Review committee. Through the generosity of our QC alumni and the QC Foundation, we will be able to provide support to many students seeking financial support. However, to do this effectively and within a small timeframe, we need your help! The Honors and Scholarships team is seeking 25+ volunteers to serve on the QC Foundation Scholarships Application Review Committee. Collectively, the committee will have the opportunity to review 700+ applications. As faculty, we are figuring out ways to address generative AI in our classrooms as it relates to our teaching, but we also need to address our own experience with generative AI in our daily life and work. We invite you to join us for Career-Connected Learning in the Curriculum, an opportunity to learn how you can infuse career thinking into your courses, and support career success and greater economic mobility for students. The Career-Connected Learning in the Curriculum event will take place on Tuesday, September 16, 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM in the Muyskens Conference Room at The Summit. Dr. Maria DeLongoria, QC Associate Provost for Academic and Faculty Affairs, will provide opening remarks, followed by two guest speakers: * Dr. Niesha Taylor, Director of Career Readiness, National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), will discuss the NACE career competencies and why it is so critical to help students learn how to represent their career proficiencies throughout their academic journey, and will present best practices for academically rigorous competency integration in the curriculum. * Dr. Robin Kietlinski, Professor of History, LaGuardia Community College; CUNY Office of Career and Industry Partnership (OCIP) Strategy Innovation Fellow, will showcase the CUNY faculty-created Career-Connected Learning Resource Hub, a tool to help CUNY faculty from all disciplines incorporate career-connected learning into their courses, and will spotlight examples of how the tool is being used across campuses. Brightspace 2.0 Training in Advanced Features, Fall 2025

This fall, the Center for Excellence in Teaching, Learning, and Leadership (CETLL) is offering a series of workshops covering advanced features in Brightspace. Sessions on each topic will be offered twice, in order to accommodate faculty schedules. The first session will take place in person on campus. The second session will be online via Zoom. The first two sessions will present an overview for faculty who are new to Brightspace or need a refresher. The remainder of the sessions will focus on advanced features of Brightspace.
