Discusses dietetic goals and barriers with pt and their families and counsel’s pt and /or their families individually or in groups about strategies to meet dietary adherence in a long range. 5. Works closely with other members of the metabolic team. 6. Develops and revises nutritional educational materials to improve patient quality of care for all diagnosis, age and literacy level. 7. Demonstrates organization in performing several tasks simultaneously. Shows willingness to move from one task to another as work requires without being asked. 8. Reports laboratory results within 24 hrs of being posted with treatment plan and recommendations. 9. Ensure customer satisfaction by handling requests from family members regarding their nutrition care and projects a positive image to the community. 10. The Marshall University Dietetic Internship is excited to invite you and your students to our Virtual Open House on October 23rd from 2-4pm EST to discuss our on-site and distance internship programs. The open house will provide an opportunity to connect with Marshall Dietetics Faculty Members and past interns to ask questions about each of our programs. Both programs provide the opportunity to complete a Master’s Degree in Dietetics. Distance Dietetic Interns will complete their master’s program completely online. On-site interns will complete their master’s program with a combination of on-site and online courses. Our first upcoming virtual open house will be on 10/14 from 12P-1P PST. We will have 3 other opportunities for students to join a virtual open house for UCSF dietetic internship and the flyer is attached with those options. The session will include a presentation on the internship learning experiences and the internship application process with time for a Q&A. We offer a challenging one-year dietetic internship program with a Nutrition Therapy emphasis in a dynamic teaching medical center environment. The internship includes experiences under the supervision of Registered Dietitians in clinical nutrition, management, and nutrition counseling and education. Interns work in all areas of inpatient clinical nutrition including medicine, surgery, organ transplantation, pediatrics, and critical care. Management experiences are completed in our room service food program under the supervision of clinical nutrition managers and food service managers. Experiences in nutrition counseling and education take place at adult and pediatric UCSF ambulatory care practices, the Mount Zion Adult Dialysis Center, the UCSF Diabetes Teaching Center, and an off-site community food/nutrition program or agency in the San Francisco Bay Area. In addition, we offer an accredited Dietetic Internship (DI) program combined with online MS in Nutrition and Dietetics. We made several important curricular updates to our MS in Nutrition and Dietetics to begin in the 2020-2021 academic year. Can you please share the following information with your students and graduates of your DPD program? We now have 3 tracks in our MS in Nutrition and Dietetics: Track A is a 35-semester hour program. In keeping with our Benedictine heritage, our DI program has a general emphasis with a focus in Public Health and Community Nutrition. New this year – Benedictine University (Lisle, IL) is now participating in the FALL DICAS and D&D Digital match,in addition to the spring match. Dietetic interns normally complete thiscombined MS/DI program in 16 months. Track B offers the convenience of an online MS in Nutrition and Dietetics for students in concurrent pursuit of a DI elsewhere. This track has anentrepreneurial focus, choice of electives, and the option to count their DI experience earned elsewhere towards six semester hours of the 36 semester hours required for the degree. These students can complete the degree in under two years, or do a fast track option in which the program of courses can be completed in about one year. Track C is designed for USA CDR credentialed Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDN) who seek a graduate nutrition program with anentrepreneurial focus and elective choices. RDNs have the option to count their DI experience, combined with RDN credential, towards nine semester hours of the 36 semester hours required for the degree. We moved to the semester system (from quarter hours). We have two 8-week terms within each semester, for students who elect to take only one course at a time. We continue to keep our class sizes smaller for optimal experiences in discussions and teams. We continue to use a cohort model so students develop deeper connections with each other and build their professional network. Although non-thesis, our program allows a student to complete a research experience elective. Perhaps the biggest change is a reduction in our tuition rate for the MS in Nutrition and Dietetics to $700/credit hour for tuition; the semester rate is lower than what the quarter rate was. For example, students in Track B of the MS in Nutrition and Dietetics pay only $21,000 for tuition at our private university. Qualified students who are not currently pursuing a Dietetic Internship can begin in our online MS in Nutrition and Wellness. These students have the opportunity to pre-match to our DI and switch to the MS in Nutrition and Dietetics program (Track A), or if pursuing a DI elsewhere, switch to Track B of the MS in Nutrition and Dietetics.
