In hindsight, I like the school so much I wish I had gone there for undergrad as well. Dear Colleagues, AJ has asked if this could possibly be included as an agenda item for the faculty meeting next week. I've copied an excerpt that essentially summarizes the issue (more details are provided in the thread below). AJ wondered if as a department we could in some way adapt the MLA approach to be consistent with APA Style. This issue is likely to become more common as e-readers proliferate, and it would be helpful if we could develop a consistent approach to dealing with it as a department. " I wanted to address a problem you had brought up when using the Kindle editions of books. Some of the books may not have the page numbers on neither the Kindle hardware (your actual e-reader) nor on the Kindle for PC. If purchased through Amazon, most of the time, you'll have page numbers. In the sad event that you do not have page numbers there are methods of citations. I have attached a PDF from Rio Salado College which uses the MLA method of citing from an e-book that doesn't have the actual page numbers in it." Dear Colleagues, Dr. Ping Li and I are happy to report that we had a great group of nearly 25 students attend our joint Curriculum Space on Writing and APA Style with Mr. John Troynaski, Director of the Queens College Writing Center on Tuesday, February 7. Mr. Troynaski spoke about the terrific services offered at no cost to QC students and especially the importance to all graduates of writing well. He also noted that many GSLIS students have taken advantage of these services, and that all of us can benefit from another set of eyes looking over our writing. Our sincere thanks to Mr. Troynaski for taking the time out from his busy schedule to speak with us! Drs. Perry and Li then presented an interactive presentation based on the attached PowerPoint. Dear Colleagues and Students, This is a reminder about our APA Style & Writing Curriculum Space tomorrow (Tuesday, February 7, 2012). This Curriculum Space will be held from 5:45 to 7:15 in Rosenthal Library, President's Conference Room #2, 5th floor. It's a little hard to find; check signs on columns pointing the direction in which to walk (around to the right from the staircase: it's in the corner). Classes starting at 3:55 will end early (just before 5:45), and 6:40 classes will start late (7:15), so that all interested students and faculty can attend. We are also very pleased that Mr. John Trounski of the Writing Center will be speaking about services offered by the QC Writing Center, and the importance of good writing. We hope to see you! Drs.
