[AccountingUndergraduateStudents 0517] IMPORTANT MASTERS FAST TRACK INFORMATION FOR ALL GRADJUATING ACCOUNTING MAJORS - THE MASTERS IN TAXATION IS HERE !!!!
Dear Graduating Accounting Majors: We are in the process of compiling a list of qualified graduates who will receive Fast Track invitations to join our MS in Accounting program for the summer/fall semesters. If you have filed for spring graduation and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0+, you will be receiving an invitation later this month. Simply click accept and you are in the program without filing an application, without the GMAT exam, without reference letters, and without a personal essay. You also have the option of deferring your acceptance for one semester, thereby starting your graduate studies in the Spring 2023 semester. I am attaching a copy of our current curriculum for the program. I am emailing you today about another possible opportunity with respect to your graduate studies. As some of you may know, under the direction of Professor Balkaran, we have been working diligently in getting our new Masters of Science in Taxation approved by all required regulatory authorities. We are happy to report that this has finally been accomplished. We would like to offer this program in the Fall 2022 semester; however, it depends on sufficient registration. If you are interested in taking the new MS in Taxation program in lieu of our existing MS in Accounting program, please email me on or before March 15th, 2022 in order that we can finalize our decision in offering this program for Fall 2022. Attached is the MS in Taxation curriculum. Please note, Accounting 747, 757, 758, and 759 are common to both programs. Even though, unlike the MS in Accounting, the new program is not officially registered as a 150 credit program for purposes of the CPA license, none of you should have any problem qualifying for the license after completion of the MS in Tax program. As you may have heard, I will be retiring after this semester after 44 years at the College, not to mention my 4 years as a student. I will still be here for your summer and fall registration and will be available throughout the summer. It has been my honor and pleasure to serve you. Advisement is very dear to my heart, and I hope I have been helpful to you as you look to start or enhance your professional careers. Professor Huang will take over for me as Graduate Director of the MS in Accounting program, starting in the Fall semester. Professor Balkaran will be the Director of the MS in Tax program. Finally, Professor David will become the Deputy Chair for Undergraduate Advisement. I am sure you will enjoy working with all of them. Most importantly, continue to be safe and well.
