[Socrates] Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship: Open House Info - share widely

Dear Colleagues,


The Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship (MMUF) will be hosting its first Open House of the year on November 2, 2023 during the Free Hour (12.15-1.30pm) at Honors Hall, Room 17.


We would appreciate if you could circulate the flyer and invitation letter for the event among the students in your class as well as among outstanding students with great academic potential that you think could be interested in pursuing a career in academia.

The Mellon Mays Program supports outstanding undergraduate students from underrepresented backgrounds to apply for PhD Programs in the Humanities and the Social Sciences or students that show intent to pursue graduate work addressing issues of race, ethnicity, or gender.


Applicants for the 2024-26 Class must be sophomores or lower juniors and have a GPA of 3.3 or above.


The program creates a perfect space for the academic growth of undergraduate students by providing fellows with both academic and financial support, including:


- A 2-year Living Stipend


- Summer Funding


- A Mentoring Program


- Writing Workshops on Research Methodology and Graduate School Applications
