Fall - Winter Employment Opportunity:
Seeking Mandarin Speaker for One Part-time Office Assistant Position

The ELI at Queens College is a comprehensive academic program for learning English as a second language. Established in 1945, the program is the oldest English language school in the City University of New York (CUNY) system and one of the oldest in the entire  United States. Gain experience in areas of student services, office procedures and working with an international population. Become familiar with basic federal regulations, reporting requirements and record keeping pertinent to international students.

Activities include but are not limited to the following:
·      Manage and respond to emails, phone calls and student inquiries.
·      Assist in student registrations, record keeping and outreach.
·      Schedule appointments and aid with application processing and record keeping.
·      Support organizing and conducting orientations, student events and marketing.

Qualifications:
·      Mandarin speaker preferred.
·      Displays interest and cross-cultural sensitivity in working with students from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
·      Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
·      Reception experience a plus.
·      Strong verbal and written communication skills.
·      Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
·      International F-1 students are also welcome to apply, but must be registered at QC or the ELI for the Spring 2020 semester to qualify.

Job Type: Part-time: up to 15 hours a week. Monday through Friday, starting February 18 through June 30, 2020. Flexible hours and schedules available. NYS Minimum Wage ($15 per hour).
