Hello everyone,

In celebration of Immigrant Heritage Month, Queens Memory is hosting "Bring Your Story: Uncovering Family Histories" -- a series of three genealogy workshops -- in June.

This coming Saturday, June 15, I will lead a hands-on exploration of how to get started on your family research, preserve your photos and other keepsakes, and make use of the many local resources available to genealogists. This event will be held at the Glen Oaks Library (256-04 Union Turnpike, Glen Oaks) from 3 to 4:30 pm.

On Monday, June 17, Sharon Wilkins, the Deputy Borough Historian of Manhattan, will hold a similar workshop that focuses on genealogy research for African-American families; researchers of all backgrounds are welcome. That program will be held at the Langston Hughes Community Library & Cultural Center (100-01 Northern Blvd., Corona) from 6 to 7:30 pm.

And, on Monday, June 24, researcher Amy Chin will present a workshop for Chinese-American families. For decades, Ms. Chin's family carefully saved records, objects and other personal artifacts of their immigration history. Join her for a behind-the-scenes look at how she researched and uncovered her family's century-old history in America. This event will take place at the Flushing Library (41-17 Main St., Flushing) from 6:30 to 8 pm.

All events are free and open to the public. For further information, email Lori.Wallach at qc.cuny.edu<mailto:Lori.Wallach at qc.cuny.edu>. We'd love to see you there!

Thanks,
Lori
