Please join us next week as we celebrate Open Access Week with two special events!

Using Open Educational Resources at CUNY
with Ann Fiddler (Open Education Librarian, CUNY) and Jean Amaral (Outreach Librarian, BMCC)
October 25, 2017
4:00-6:00 PM
Rosenthal Library, Room 300i
Are you concerned about the cost of textbooks? Would you like to ensure that the teaching materials you use are tailored toward the needs of your students and available from the beginning of the semester? Research shows that textbook costs are a burden for many students, who as a result often delay buying textbooks or try to get through the course without them. Cost-free courses are one way of addressing this issue.
Please join us for a workshop on designing cost-free courses. Our guests, Jean Amaral and Ann Fiddler, will teach you how to find, use, and adapt resources for your courses
Refreshments will be provided. Please RSVP here: https://goo.gl/forms/axBIbZZhHlp8igbt1

Boost Your Scholarly Profile
Presented by Nancy Foasberg
October 26, 2017
12:30-1:15
Rosenthal Library, Room 300i
Learn how to control and curate your online presence by using scholarly profiles! This helps people to find your work, improving your visibility as a scholar. At this hands-on workshop, you will learn how to create a profile and scholarly ID, and make your work available online. By making your work easier to find and access, you help your readers to find you, improving your chances of being read and cited.
Refreshments will be provided. Please RSVP here: https://goo.gl/forms/mY1jCejBtQLBLx9z1

Additionally, if you're interested in open access issues, you may also want to consider a talk at the Graduate Center on October 27 sponsored by the LACUNY Scholarly Communications Roundtable, "Digital Scholarship and the Public Good."
