Hi All,

If any of you are interested in OER (open educational resource) courses, please consider signing up for one or more of these webinars! These can help you save your students money and

I don’t want to make it seem like Lumen is the only choice for open educational resources – there are a lot out there, and I’m honestly a little skeptical of companies like Lumen that monetize them. HOWEVER, this is an easy place to start.

Thanks,
Nancy

Colleagues,

This was shared with the OER list serv but in light of the huge OER initiative starting up this fall I thought some of you or your faculty might have some interest in this.

Lumen Learning offers an OER “out of the box” option and they are hosting webinars for SUNY and CUNY faculty members to walk through several of the OER courses most widely-used in US higher education (see list below; click here<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__info.lumenlearning.com_2017-2Dsunycuny-2Dregistration-2D0&d=DwMFaQ&c=mRWFL96tuqj9V0Jjj4h40ddo0XsmttALwKjAEOCyUjY&r=TVgbIaIwd5pca79Z3-Yvhv4DtqWVEaPl6Wr_LHPlHuA&m=zAZUx1WwCP6ETXaC7_35B9HR9ReasOhS1hb58Czdhi8&s=nPPBbnVB1Uo_x16E5XYVFrC3oUaA-T4HrLvh-dILuT8&e=> to register). These 30-40 minute webinars will provide a show-and-tell overview of ready-to-teach OER course materials that replace expensive textbooks. You’ll have the opportunity to see the OER courses and how they work inside our LMS, learn how you can customize and use them, and ask questions about teaching with OER. After the webinars, registrants will receive instructions for getting your own copy of the course to review and adopt this fall term or beyond.

The webinar schedule is:

  * Wednesday 8/16, 12:00-1:00 pm ET: OER for Business - Intro to Business & Principles of Marketing
  *   Thursday 8/17, 11:00-12:00 pm ET: OER for Biology - Biology I-II
