Living Memory is a collaboration between Queens Library/Queens Memory and the Museum of Chinese in America to preserve living memories and celebrate the cultural contributions of the Chinese community in NYC.

Please join us for an inaugural event for the program series, "Living Memory: The Culture and Heritage of Chinese New Yorkers," created by Queens Library and The Museum of Chinese in America (MOCA). The mission of this program is to preserve the stories, traditions, and cultural contributions of the Chinese community in New York and share them with the rest of the city.

Agenda:

Part 1 - An Oral History Interview with Zhang Hongtu
An oral history interview with Zhang Hongtu, a contemporary artist based in New York City. Zhang Hongtu has spent the past five decades expanding the ways in which viewers perceive the world around them, skillfully drawing connections between cultures.

Beatrice Chen, MOCA's Director of Public Programs, will moderate this panel discussion about issues of identity in the process of becoming American, and will touch upon reconciling cultural differences, preserving cultural roots and celebrating heritage. The panelists include Councilman Peter Koo, Jiayang Fan, Peter Kwong, and Kian Lam Kho.
