Greetings, colleagues:

I'm very excited to announce an interactive workshop on the topic of academic literacy, by QC alum Susan Behrens (Ph.D. in Linguistics from Brown, Professor at Marymount Manhattan College).  The workshop is Friday, November 14 (12-2pm, Queens Hall 325):

Susan will present the argument that all educators can benefit from more overt knowledge about the nature of academic language, and will lead a structured practice on how to have linguistically-informed conversations about academic English.  Enhanced metalinguistic awareness leads to better teaching for us, and deeper learning for our students.
