The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) and the Office of Converging Technologies (OCT) invite faculty to help formulate plans for a reconfiguration of the Kiely computing suite. This space (KY 226) is currently a traditional computer lab setting, and this working group (with members from CTL, OCT, students, faculty, and staff) will be charged with proposing plans for a flexible learning environment that will foster student collaboration and engagement, with access to state-of-the-art technology.
This space will be able to accommodate large or small groups, and will serve well for presentations or group-based activities; some suggested components include:
-small student workgroup areas with digital displays;
-larger student workgroup areas (e.g., seminar room with digital displays);
-access to interactive display technology;
-classroom flexibility allowing for modification of number and configuration of seats;
-partitions that allow for efficient reconfiguration of the space;
-access for students to charge mobile devices.
The working group will meet during the fall 2013 semester, to select collaborative environments and layouts to be installed in the facility. The plan formulated by this group will be implemented in collaboration by Campus Facilities, Buildings and Grounds, and OCT.
Meetings are tentatively set for 1:00 pm on 6 Thursdays during the fall semester: 9/19, 9/26, 10/10, 10/24, 11/14, and 12/19.
