From: Rachel Stephenson <Rachel.Stephenson@cuny.edu<mailto:Rachel.Stephenson@cuny.edu>> Date: Monday, November 14, 2016 at 6:37 PM To: F?lix Matos Rodr?guez Subject: CUNY Cultural Corps Dear President Matos, You may remember that I reached out to you in September to let you know that some of your students are participating in the inaugural cohort of the CUNY Cultural Corps. As you probably remember, the program is currently funded by the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs. A matching grant from The Rockefeller Foundation has made it possible for us to grow the program in 2017-18. The Cultural Corps provides paid internships for CUNY students at cultural institutions around New York City with an overall goal of diversifying the sector. Recruitment for next year's participants has begun, and I am hoping that you will encourage staff or faculty at your college to work with us to recruit suitable students or alumni who might be great candidates for the program. Below please see a brief overview of next year's programs: Cultural Corps Summer Intensive(Application opens on November 28, 2016; deadline is January 17, 2017) Recent alumni and CUNY students graduating by spring 2017 with expressed interest in pursuing a career in the arts and culture sector will participate in a 9-week full-time work experience during the summer. Alumni will receive a wage of $13/hour and work 35 hours per week. Prior to engaging with their host sites, alumni will undergo intensive training in key areas of professional development. Periodically, alumni may attend cultural events hosted by partners and affiliated programs. Pending job availability and participant success, CUNY will work with the host site to explore the possibility of extending participant engagement with the site after program completion. Cultural Corps Academic Year Internship(Application opens on December 16, 2016; priority deadline is February 15, 2017, and the final deadline is March 12, 2017) Currently enrolled students at any CUNY college interested in gaining professional experience in the arts and culture sector will participate in a 24-week part-time work experience over their fall and spring semesters. Students will receive a wage of $13/hour and work 12 hours per week. Prior to starting at their site, students will complete a pre-program training and throughout the year will participate in a cultural enrichment and development series. The manager of the CUNY Cultural Corps is Ayo Oti, and she is eager to work with campus-based staff and faculty to discuss next steps regarding recruitment at individual colleges. Staff or faculty at your college who should be a part of this continuing discussion should fill out the following contact form: https://cunySUD.formstack.com/forms/cuny_arts_cultural_corps_interest_form<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__cunySUD.formstack.com_forms_cuny-5Farts-5Fcultural-5Fcorps-5Finterest-5Fform&d=CwMFAg&c=mRWFL96tuqj9V0Jjj4h40ddo0XsmttALwKjAEOCyUjY&r=fJ3fDaDZAhX5p9jT63BTO3gbHM6QO_TedRf9Q9E5Ey8&m=GslpwueOOXHcKDd9uYatLp4SenQ47exHFqq9tnUgcAo&s=0ZIRjznF8ON2UWw5BVjyYckIg0nPROtSAd6lcbaNTjE&e=>.
