Hi All, We have an exciting new course being offered this upcoming Fall semester on Emergency Management being taught by Prof. Seley and former FDNY members. Please consider it for your Fall schedule! New Course on Emergency Management UBST 265-02 Prof. John Seley Chief Robert Ingram FDNY (ret.) Lieutenant Tony Mussorfiti, FDNY (ret.) Tuesdays: 3:05-5:55 This course will introduce students to the growing field of Emergency Management. Emergency management personnel develop plans to protect the public, coordinate emergency response (resources and requests), and advise elected officials on major disasters like hurricanes, terrorism, and active shooter incidents. The course will be taught by Officers of the FDNY who have years of experience. The demand for emergency management personnel has grown exponentially in recent years. Graduates from emergency management education programs work for law enforcement, fire, emergency medical services, health and hospitals, environmental, transportation, and buildings departments, as well as other local public agencies. They also work in federal and state Homeland Security and emergency management agencies in addition to non-governmental agencies and private businesses. This course will start with a brief history and introduce the components of an emergency response program. The course will include case studies and exercises to illustrate and support the concepts and challenges of emergency management. There will be hands-on tabletop exercises as well as a student project to prepare an emergency response plan for a real-world incident.? Dwayne M.
