[UrbanStudiesCircular] Call for Projects: Queens SOUP '18
*Queens SOUP* is seeking projects to compete for funding at the *April 15, 2018* micro-granting crowdfunded community dinner. SOUP is a community potluck dinner, originally founded in Detroit, that provides seed funding and promotional opportunities to help launch local projects bringing positive impacts to their communities. SOUP events have taken place all over the country increasing innovative, grassroots economic development and civic engagement. Since 2016 Queens SOUP has raised about $2,000 for Queens based projects. Think your community project may be applicable to receive funding? Read more bellow and *apply <https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1-ObGca_AqyUBCTVCBtlngufxIjaloz4p4FfxmNL3v-A/viewform?edit_requested=true%20tinyurl.com/queenssoup18> before March 4, 2018*! Queens SOUP provides an opportunity for any community project based in Queens to win no-strings-attached crowdsourced funding, raised in person rather than online during a public dinner on *Sunday, April 15, 2018 from 5 to 7PM*. Projects can focus on arts and culture, social entrepreneurship, small business services, children's programing, neighborhood beautification, environmental remediation, and more. After the online application process, four projects will be chosen to present their proposals during Queens SOUP. For a $5 donation, attendees gain access to a potluck dinner where they eat, learn, and vote for one of the four projects they think will have the most significant positive impact on their community. At the end of SOUP ballots are counted, and the money collected at the door is awarded to the project with the most votes. SOUP acts as an unique networking event, connecting projects with potential community partners and volunteers regardless of whether or not they win the cash prize. *Learn more and apply online <https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1-ObGca_AqyUBCTVCBtlngufxIjaloz4p4FfxmNL3v-A/viewform?edit_requested=true%20tinyurl.com/queenssoup18> through March 4, 2018.* *RSVP and donate here <https://www.eventbrite.com/e/queens-soup-2018-tickets-40942887278>.* Interested in sponsoring Queens SOUP, or getting involved with planning as a community partner?
