The Queens Museum invites you to escape the winter cold and enjoy the holiday with live musical performances, art making workshops for families, a book sale, and an amazing market filled local arts and crafts. Schedule of Performances 1-2pm: "Miki and the North Wind" performed by the Queens College Puppeteers Miki's father is missing in a land of ice and snow. Despite being a small child, now Miki has to be the family provider. But someone or something is stealing the things Miki needs to survive. Could it be the North Wind is a thief, and behind what happening? Based on an adaptation of the story by Anne Miranda, nine puppeteers, most of whom are also New York City visual art teachers, will perform the show live, as a culminating art piece for their Queens College graduate education craft course. The puppeteers are graduate education students in the college's Secondary Education department. Consistent with Queens College's value to give back to the community, this puppet show is a way for the skilled art education professionals to make meaningful connections with families and urban communities. 2:30-3pm: Corona Youth Music Project Founded in 2010 in Corona (Queens, NY) to empower youth, fight poverty, and promote social inclusion through music education and performance, it is the first organization in Queens that is part of "El Sistema," a global movement of music for social change. Through their participation in the Orchestra, children are given the opportunity to become valued assets to the Corona community. 3:30 - 4pm: Academia De Mariachi Nuevo Amanecer 4:30 - 5pm: Ecuador Sumag Llacta's Youth Dance Group "Ñukanchik Llakta Wawa Kuna" Vendors Amanda Lenox AnHandmade designs Ann Cofta ART FOR THE WILD Artbysandav Barbara Stone Bare Hand Creations Carolina Peñafiel Celny's Treasure of Arts & Crafts Christine Nicholas Corona Youth Music Project Chuecas´ Curtidos Cuculi Designs Culeca Con Mis Caracoladas Deborah Wasserman dovecote Earsay Embellished Life Designs Eva Valencia Evie McKenna EvyLu Jewelry Flo and Theo Gennadyi Gurman Henna By Naty Hilario Castillo Holy Faya Hunter & Co.
