The Institute for Public Knowledge<https://ipk.nyu.edu/> invites you to join us for a lunchtime presentation and dialogue with Malkit Shoshan<https://soa.syr.edu/live/profiles/336-malkit-shoshan>. An architect and critical scholar, Ms. Shoshan's work is focused on the relationships between architecture, politics, and human rights. She will present a talk on the theme of Architecture and Conflict, combining three major projects: The Atlas of Conflict: Israel-Palestine<http://www.atlasoftheconflict.com/Main.html>, a dynamic visual and topographical analysis of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and winner of the title "most beautiful book in the world"; Village<https://www.damianieditore.com/en-US/product/430>, an exploration of encounters between creative communities (artists, architects, and villagers) in the context of forced displacement; and Drones and Honeycombs<http://drones-honeycombs.hetnieuweinstituut.nl/background-project>, her new research on the architectures and landscapes of UN peacekeeping missions and their impacts on cities in which they occur. Malkit Shoshan<https://soa.syr.edu/live/profiles/336-malkit-shoshan> is founder of the Amsterdam-based architectural think tank FAST (Foundation for Achieving Seamless Territory), a PhD candidate at Delft University of Technology, and a visiting critic at Syracuse Architecture. Her work has been published inVolume, Abitare, Frame, Haaretz, The New York Times, and other publications. She has exhibited at the Venice Architecture Biennale, the Netherlands Architecture Institute, Experimenta, Het Nieuwe Instituut, and the Istanbul Design Biennale.
