On Thursday, April 12th, the Urban Studies Department will welcome Willis Elkins, Program Manager of the Newtown Creek Alliance, to discuss that community organization's activism and partnership with lawyers, scientists, and government agencies. Newtown Creek is one of New York City's Superfund sites, due to its history of toxic contamination from industrial pollution and human sewage. The Newtown Creek Alliance engages in a range of projects to advance environmental restoration, public access and community education. Please join this exciting conversation!
