Dear TIME 2000 Alumni, Happy new year! As you may recall, last year's math teachers' reunion hosted by Dr. Artzt was postponed due to snow. At the June reunion, it was announced that this year's reunion would also be in June. We hope you can join us then, but in the meantime we hope to see you at the February seminar for the current TIME 2000 undergraduates. After the seminar, Dr. Artzt, Dr. Curcio and Dr. Gurl will be available for a mini-reunion and hope you have some time to catch up with them. Seminar details follow. Dear TIME 2000 Friends and Family, MATHCOUNTS Manhattan is in need of volunteers for the math competition on Feb. 6, 2016. You may have participated in MATHCOUNTS when you were in middle school; you might want to learn about it for when you are a teacher. A simple breakfast and lunch will be provided and you will receive a MATHCOUNTS Manhattan t-shirt. Most volunteers will be needed to help score contest rounds using an answer key from around 9:30am to 12:30pm, though we'll also need some help with registration, student lunch, trophy set up, and other tasks throughout the day. After scoring lunch, you are welcome to stay for the keynote speaker. The competition will be held on Saturday, February 6th at Stuyvesant High School (345 Chambers Street) with most volunteers arriving at 9:15 AM. If you have not let me know if you can make it, please respond back to this message so I can get an accurate list. I am attaching the detailed volunteer info sheet for 2016 for your reference. One of our participating schools (Park East Day School, located in the E 60s) is unable to participate at the Saturday competition due to religious observances. I am looking for one person who is available during the day on Tuesday, February 2nd to administer the contest rounds to them at their school. If you are interested, please let me know! A proctoring script and all materials will be provided; you will not be required to score the tests. I will also be setting up along with a few coaches in the late afternoon/early evening at Stuyvesant on Friday, February 5th (sorting t-shirts by school, unboxing trophies, etc.). We could probably use help from a few volunteers as well so let me know if you're interested in set up the day before. Thank you!
