Dear TIME 2000 Students,
Happy fall 2023 semester! Please mark your calendars for the fall TIME 2000 events listed below.
New Student Meeting Tuesday, August 29th, 9:30-10:30am, PH 004. If this is your first or second semester as a TIME 2000 student or if you are currently enrolled in Dr. Artzt's SEYS 221 class, please attend this meeting. As you may know, the TIME 2000 orientation was changed to a remote event on short notice due to the poor air quality in June. At this meeting, we will review the program commitments, answer questions, meet program staff, and complete tasks that need to be done in person. Please read emails from the college for instructions on how to create a QC email account and how to obtain a QC ID card.
Monthly seminars, 8:30-10:05am, Patio Room of the Dining Hall: 9/12, 10/17, 11/14, 12/5. Attendance is mandatory for all TIME 2000 students. If you have registered for a class at this time, please drop it now and add another class that does not conflict with the seminar time.
Certification Meeting: Tuesday, September 12th, immediately following the seminar in the Patio Room. The director of the QC Teacher Certification Office will meet with math ed majors to discuss the process and requirements to obtain NYS mathematics teacher certification. Seniors and Juniors should attend but all are welcome.
TIME 2000 conference, Celebrating Mathematics Teaching: Friday, November 3rd. Our annual event attended by over 400 high school students and their teachers as well as TIME 2000 students and faculty. Attendance is mandatory for all TIME 2000 students. Clear your calendars now of any conflicts, 8am -2:30pm. Optional "after-party" until 4pm
