A message from the LCD dept: New Course for Spring 2020! Introduction to American Sign Language LCD 191 (Course Code 48955) Fridays, 9:10 am-12:00 pm Spring 2020 Great opportunity to learn American Sign Language! This is a 3 credit introductory level course. For undergraduates, this course can be applied toward the Pathways language requirement (this requires special permission, which will be provided). For TESOL students, the credits attained in this course could be applied towards the requirement that you study a language other than English (LOTE). Sign up now because we believe that once this new course is advertised college-wide, it will fill up quickly!

Dear TIME 2000 Students, LIMACON is a mathematics education conference for teachers of grades K-12. It is a mandatory event for all TIME 2000 students (unless you have an exam at QC). It will be held at SUNY, Old Westbury, on Friday, March 13, 2020; TIME 2000 will provide a bus from QC. The program can be found at LIMACON Program<https://limathconference.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Limac%CC%A7on-Broch…>; be sure to read the descriptions and grade levels of each workshop on pages 2 and 3 before you select your workshops. In order for TIME 2000 to pay your registration fee, follow the instructions below and register by January 10, 2020. Do NOT pay by credit card. After you submit the registration form, you will receive confirmation that you have registered. Please forward the confirmation to Loriann.Maugeri(a)qc.cuny.edu<mailto:Loriann.Maugeri@qc.cuny.edu> so Lori knows to pay for you. Since this conference is for K-12 teachers, it is important that you select workshops that will be of interest to you. Grade levels are listed for each workshop. Consider those designated for grades 6-12. Read the descriptions of the workshops in the program before you choose your workshops for the registration page. Dear TIME 2000 Students, Happy December! As the semester winds down, we are busy planning events for the end of the year and for 2020! * Reminder: TIME 2000 seminar on Tuesday, December 10, 2019. * If you registered to attend the How to Make Math Conference at Molloy College on January 9, please send Lori your confirmation email if you have not yet done so. * If you signed up for the field trip to the Museum of the Moving Image scheduled for Friday, January 17, please check the list at the bottom of this email for your name. If your name is not listed but you would like to join us, please email me immediately to save your spot. A private workshop and guided tour are scheduled to start at 11am. Please arrive at the museum in Astoria by 10:50am and meet inside the group entrance door. See the attached document for a map which indicates the entrance for group visits and directions by public transportation and by car. Please note that street parking is metered and extremely limited in the area. Please also note that the visit does not include lunch. There are many restaurants nearby if you wish to plan an outing after the event with your TIME 2000 friends. See you at the seminar if not before!
