Dear TIME 2000 Students,

Next month’s talk at the Museum of Mathematics should be of interest to students who have taken or will take M245 (Mathematical Models), that is, ALL of you!  Learn applications of modeling and get ideas for M245 projects and future lesson plans.

Read below for details for free registration for this remote session.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Weinman

Subject: "What is the point of mathematics?" Find out for FREE at "Math Encounters" on October 7

Dear MoMath friends,

Don't miss the October Math Encounters!  Join MoMath for "What's the Point: Why Math Really Matters" with Nira Chamberlain on Wednesday, October 7, at 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm ET (New York).

All around the world, children and even some adults ask the question: "What is the point of mathematics?"  The field of mathematical modeling not only helps answer this question, it can even help quench the human thirst for knowledge.  Join Dr. Nira Chamberlain, Chartered Mathematician, Chartered Scientist, and President of the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications (United Kingdom) as he shares applications of mathematical modeling, from serious to fun.  From the edge of our solar system to battling an artificial intelligence takeover, we will see the point of mathematics after all.

Registration is free.  Choose from two online sessions:

Wednesday, October 7 at 4:00 pm ET (New York)
Wednesday, October 7 at 7:00 pm ET (New York)

Math Encounters (mathencounters.org) is MoMath's popular free public presentation series celebrating the spectacular world of mathematics, produced with support from the Simons Foundation.

Regards,
