Dearest Students, THANK YOU! Thank you for the beautiful video with your smiling faces and words of gratitude. You really lifted my spirits and started my day off in the most exceptional way. What a great way to start the day and finish it, as I will be watching the video over and over all day. It was heartwarming to see your smiling faces (even if covered by a face mask) especially after so long apart. Your gift means more than you can imagine – times infinity! A very special thank you to Brianna Patrizi, T-19, for organizing the project and creating the video. May all your future students return the love and inspiration you have given me today. My very dear family, During such unprecedented days of isolation, stress, and anxiety came this shining video that has touched me to the core. I have shed lots of tears of joy while watching it multiple times. I even showed it to my daughters and granddaughters and they told me they were crying too, and they don't even know you! To see all of your beautiful smiling faces, with your beautiful notes of gratitude is almost too much for me, as I miss you all so much. I am so honored and grateful to have each and every one of you in my life. You have the love in your hearts which is what the greatest of teachers have and that is why I know for sure how each of you will positively influence the lives of the thousands of students you will influence in your careers. And, they will in turn return the love you have shown for me and Ms. Weinman and Ms. Markinson. Thank you for this gift of a lifetime. I will treasure it until the end of time. And of course, my deepest gratitude to and admiration for Brianna who made this all happen. Brianna had the right idea, this time, more than ever, is the time to reach our and make someone happy! You have all done that for us in a very deep and meaningful way! I hope that you and your loved ones will all stay well and I look forward to the day that we can all be together again IN PERSON. Good luck on your final exams and please, please stay in touch with me. Love forever,, Alice Artzt On Thu, May 14, 2020 at 9:15 AM Brianna Patrizi <briannapatrizi@gmail.com> wrote:

To the most incredible group of students in the world: Words cannot possibly describe the impact that this gift made on me, but I will try my best... As I sat down at my computer this morning for what I was positive would be another exhausting day of remote teaching, I was shocked to find the most beautiful video I could have EVER IMAGINED waiting for me in my inbox. Watching the video, I was brought to tears by the overwhelming feelings of appreciation and love that I feel for all of you. As each of you appeared on the screen I was beyond overjoyed to see your pictures and videos, read your notes, and "feel the love" of the program. I have watched the video on every one of my breaks today, and have already downloaded it to both of my computers AND my phone so that I can keep watching it FOREVER. The pandemic has brought with it so much angst, uncertainty, and sadness that I have too infrequently stopped to consider everything in my life that there is to be thankful for. The TIME 2000 and Math Education family at Queens College CERTAINLY ranks high on that list, and this unbelievable present has only made my love for the program so much stronger (which I didn't think was possible)!! Seeing your beautiful faces and your kind notes brought me tremendous joy and made me feel like everything was "right" in the world again! I called Dr. Artzt and Mrs. Weinman and quite literally couldn't come up with words to describe how touching your messages are. As many of you know, I am a TIME 2000 graduate. Since finding my place in this family as a student many years ago, I've known that there really is nothing quite like TIME 2000. So, I, too, would like to publicly thank Dr. Artzt and Mrs. Weinman for the unique, inspiring, and happy family that they have cultivated over the years. The greatest honor and privilege of my life has been to see my experiences come full circle, and be given the thrilling opportunity to teach your math and SEYS courses. From having the time of my life teaching the freshmen calculus, to witnessing the seniors develop into INCREDIBLE novice teachers, it has been remarkable and humbling to be a part of each of your journeys. You all inspire me every single day to keep improving as a teacher so that I can best serve my students. I miss you all so much and CANNOT WAIT (!!!!!!) for the day when we are reunited on campus. The thought of us being together again brings a tremendous smile to my face. Until then, let us be sustained by keeping in mind how extraordinarily lucky we are to belong to such a wonderful family. We will ALL be stronger and wiser at the end of this, and you will all develop into even more understanding, compassionate, and creative teachers to your future students who will be SO LUCKY TO HAVE YOU!!!! I wish you the best of luck with finals and assignments the end of the semester... this was EXACTLY the "boost" I needed to finish the semester strong. May you, your families, and loved ones remain in good health. From the bottom of my heart, thank you, thank you, thank you for putting together this most precious gift that I will treasure now and forever. You are all beyond special to me and the opportunity to teach each of you has been a rare blessing. No matter where life takes any of us, I will always be here for each of you and rooting for your happiness, good health, and success. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU...
