I hope everything is going well at Queen's College and you are excited for another semester. I can't believe it has been almost a year since graduating. Teaching without going to school at night is a little strange but I am enjoying my extra free time. I wanted to invite you and your students to my school's Portfolio Day event coming up on Friday, February 10, 2017 from 11:30-3:00. On Portfolio Day our students in grades 9 and 10 showcase their best work from the first semester to guests and parents we invite from the community. It is always a challenge to bring guests in since most people are working during this time period. I thought this would be an excellent opportunity for undergraduate or graduate education majors of any content area to see a real classroom in NYC, interact with our 9th and 10th graders in round table discussions where they talk about their classwork from the first semester, and see different curriculum projects from all subject areas. (We are a problem-based learning school.) I was hoping that you would pass this email along to your students and encourage them to RSVP by Tuesday, February 7th. My principal is more than happy to sign off for observation or classroom hours that are needed for education classes or certification. I just ask that if a student RSVP's that they will attend they plan to come to the entire event from 11:30-3. Lunch will also be served. I attached the formal invitation to the email which explains more about Portfolio Day. I really hope students at Queens College can make it to the event. It is truly an inspirational day for all students and educators. Please RSVP to MMilana@hillsidearts.org<mailto:MMilana@hillsidearts.org> by February 7th. Thank you!
