Dear TIME 2000 Students,

The How To Make Math Count Conference is a mathematics education conference for teachers of grades K-8.   It is an optional conference ( i.e., not required);  you are welcome to attend and TIME 2000 will pay your registration fee.  Please note that is at Molloy College in Rockville Centre and you must provide your own transportation.  It is in January, during QC’s winter break so you should not have classes here unless you are taking Winter Session classes.

In order for TIME 2000 to pay your registration fee, follow the instructions below.  Do NOT pay by credit card.   After you submit the registration form, you will receive confirmation that you have registered.  Please send that to Loriann.Maugeri@qc.cuny.edu so Lori knows to pay for you.

Since this conference is for K-8 teachers, it is important that you select workshops that will be of interest to you.  Grade levels are listed for each workshop.  Consider those designated for grades 5-8.

Jim Matthews and Robert Gerver are excellent instructors.  Read the description of the workshops in the attached program before you choose your workshops for the registration page. Write down the number of the workshops you are interested in attending, then register by clicking on the link for Paying By Purchase Order, http://ncmta.net/machform/view.php?id=18355

Enter Queens College/TIME 2000 as your school name.

Make sure to choose Student/Student Teacher $30 for Registration Fee near the end of the form.

For the purchase order number, enter 2000.

For District Purchase Order Contact Name, enter Loriann Maugeri.

For District Purchase Order Contact Phone Number, enter 718-997-5377.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Naomi Weinman

Hi Naomi,

Hope all is well with you.  We just completed the program for this year's How To Make Math Count conference and there are many great sessions, including "First Year Teaching 101" and Jim Matthews fun session "What Can My Math Students Learn From Frogs and Rulers".  I was hoping you could share this with your college students. I know they are between sessions on Jan 10 but if they are not going away this would be  great opportunity.  In addition, If any of the students want to volunteer to help, let me know, that would be wonderful.

Regards,

Dorothy
