CETLL: Can you explain the function of the Office of Institutional Effectiveness (OIE) at Queens College? Lizandra Friedland: Our overarching goal is to support a culture of inquiry, evidence, and innovation at the College. We do this by providing access to reliable data, by fielding applied research projects, and by supporting assessment and grant-related efforts across the college. The Office of Institutional Effectiveness (OIE) was established in 2016 as a reorganization of the former Office of Institutional Research. While the office continues to carry out traditional IR functions, such as compliance reporting, our focus is on collecting, maintaining, and analyzing data to systematically investigate practical challenges and inform decision-making in ways that meaningfully support the campus community.
