Open Educational Resources (OER) are free and freely accessible digital media (including text, images, video, learning modules and etc.) that are used in teaching and learning. Due to their digital distribution, they can be accessed anywhere and anytime by students through an internet connection. OER are easy to keep up to date and modify for a variety of course-related applications while supplanting expensive materials students normally have to purchase. On Thursday, October 17, the Center for Teaching & Learning and Queens College Libraries will kick off a three-part series on OER with an introduction to the topic and a discussion of how to get started using them in courses. Please join speakers Leila Walker, Emerging Technologies and Digital Scholarship Librarian, and Nancy Foasberg, Associate Professor and Humanities Librarian, at 4 pm in Rosenthal 227 to learn more about what OER are and why you might want to consider using them.
