Two Timely Plays: Laundry City and Building Blocks: Colorful Minds
Dear Colleagues, I hope that you will join us for an exciting "double feature" by Epic Theatre Ensemble. High school students have created and will be performing these two pieces about challenges in the New York City public school system. Each piece is about 35 minutes long, and there will be pizza and a talk back afterwards! Event takes place in Colden Auditorium on Tuesday November 28th at 4:30 pm. Please see flier for further details. HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE! Best, Sophia LAUNDRY CITY Over 60 years after Brown v. Board of Education, New York City is one of the most segregated school districts in the United States. Conceived, written, and performed by NYC Public High School students, LAUNDRY CITY is a hilarious and provocative exploration of what "Separate but Equal" means to us today. BUILDING BLOCKS: COLORFUL MINDS This timely play uses theatre, dance, movement, and stand-up comedy to examine how Science, Technology, Engineering and Math are taught in Public Schools and the impact this pedagogy is having on diversity in the STEM workforce.
