Open Educational Resources and Scholarship, November 14
From the Center for Teaching & Learning and Queens College Libraries:
Open Educational Resources (OER) are free and freely accessible digital media (including text, images, video, learning modules and etc.) that are used in teaching and learning. Due to their digital distribution, they can be accessed anywhere and anytime by students through an internet connection. OER are easy to keep up to date and modify for a variety of course-related applications while supplanting expensive materials students normally have to purchase. The Faculty Speaker Series on Open Education Resources, a collaboration between the Center for Teaching & Learning and Queens College Libraries, continues on Thursday, November 14th, at 4 pm in Rosenthal 227. Nancy Foasberg, Associate Professor/Humanities and Scholarly Communication Librarian, will guide us through a discussion of the benefits of OER use for instructors as well as their impact on and place in current scholarship. Although this talk dovetails with ideas explored in previous talks in this series, you are not expected to have attended them. Please join us in exploring how OERs can help us as teachers and scholars! Date: November 14, 2019 Time: 4:00 - 5:30 pm Location: Rosenthal Library, Room 227 Map: https://goo.gl/maps/A6MfzjQP8CzDt9Ne7 Light refreshments will be served.
