Queens Memory Event on Community Activism
Hello all, On Saturday, Feb. 25, Queens Memory and the Queens Borough President's Office will co-host a panel discussion on contemporary community activism in the Corona/East Elmhurst area. Issues to be explored include the organizing of domestic workers and recent immigrant communities. The panel will be led by Dr. Premilla Nadasen, associate professor of history at Barnard College. Panelists will include representatives from the groups Adhikaar, Domestic Workers United and Damayan Migrant Workers Association, as well as Dr. Tamar Carroll, director of digital humanities and social sciences at the Rochester Institute of Technology. The event will be held at the Langston Hughes Library in Corona from 2 to 4 pm.
