Teaching Online: Strategies for Success: workshops starting Friday, March 27
The Center for Teaching and Learning is offering a second series of online workshops to help faculty teach effectively online. This series of workshops introduces the strategies of teaching online as a whole with emphasis on pedagogy of teaching online, instead of introducing technical tools used in the online environment. This series will strike a balance between addressing specific topics and tools and sharing our collective wisdom about how to teach most effectively under the unique conditions of the time. **Pivoting to Online Instruction** Come prepared to explore what is working or not in your classes, and how to move forward more efficiently and effectively. Some of the topics we will touch upon include: - How to recognize the needs of and engage all your students. - How to maintain a focus on student-centered success with the move to online learning. - Best practices for online classroom management and assessment. - Reimagining in-person content in an online context. - How to build discussion boards to encourage productive discourse. - How to manage group work/group presentations in an asynchronous online course - Peer review and integrating active learning strategies online (ie: "Think, Pair, Share"). **Asynchronous Learning: Online Test and Assignments** - Alternatives to synchronous, timed and/or proctored online tests and assignments. - Encouraging academic integrity.
