CUNY Conference on Fashion Studies Research & Pedagogy

Dear colleagues, 

I am excited to announce the lineup for the Fashion Studies Research & Pedagogy Conference, which will take place at The Graduate Center (365 5th Avenue) on Thursday, April 14th from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM. 

In the morning we will have presentations from Alyssa Adomaitis, John Dixon, and David Smith of The New York City College of Technology on the topic "Linking Fashion Business and Technology." As well as a presentation from Ruthann Robson, Allie Robbins, and Ryan Dooley of CUNY Law on the topic of "Fashion Studies at CUNY Law School: Art, Fashion, and Law."  Elizabeth Wissinger, Veronica Manlow, and I will present on "Fashion Studies at The Graduate Center: New York as Fashion Capital & Research Lab."

In the afternoon we will have presentations from the Rebecca Federman and Thomas Lannon of the New York Public Library, as well as presentations on recent research from students and recent graduates.  

The day will conclude with a roundtable on "Fashion in the Future Tense" with CUNY faculty in conversation with Joanne Entwistle (King's College London) and Marco Pecorari (Parsons Paris).

The conference is co-sponsored by the MA Program in Liberal Studies and the Center for the Study of Women and Society.
