Revisiting Writing in Our Classrooms: How to get students to write what you want

November 18 12:15-1:30p in the President’s Conference Room 1 (RO 527)

While students are taught relatively formulaic writing in K-12 and broad generalist research and writing skills in foundational college courses, our disciplinary practices quickly diverge into specialized needs in our W classes. This workshop will cover how to communicate our unique disciplinary discourse communities’ expectations with our students and design corresponding assignments and in-class activities that effectively induce the various contextual new ways of research, thinking, and writing.

Facilitated By: Alwin Harahap and Amy Wan (Faculty In English & Writing Pedagogy Specialists)
