Greetings:
The Center for Teaching and Learning
is offering an all-day faculty seminar on ePortfolio pedagogies
and how ePortfolios (known at QC as QPortfolios) can be instrumental in
enhancing the transfer experience for students. The seminar will
take place on Queens College campus (exact location TBA) on Friday,
June 8 (from 10 am to 5 pm), and will include general discussion about
ePortfolios as well as discussion in break-out groups about the following
possible tracks (depending on participant interest):
* Business/Accounting/Economics
* Education
* General Education
* Natural Sciences
* Portfolios for reappointment/tenure/promotion
* Transfer
* Writing
The seminar will include faculty from QC and from other CUNY campuses that
participate in the Making Transfer Connections project: LaGuardia, Queensborough,
Bronx, and Lehman. (Making Transfer Connections is a Title V [US
Department of Education] funded project on ePortfolio and transfer.)
Both adjunct and full-time faculty are invited to participate. In
the application form, please indicate how you plan on using ePortfolios
in your classroom, and what track in the above list interests you most.
QC participants will each receive a brand new laptop computer on loan for
up to three years, to facilitate their ePortfolio work. Because of
this, space is limited, and we will give preference to participants who
indicate departmental support for ePortfolios. For questions, please
contact Fei-Wen Pirovolikos at fpirovolikos@qc.cuny.edu.
Please apply no later than the end of May 15, 2012: http://tinyurl.com/eportfolio-8June2012
