The Queens Consortium on LOTE (Languages Other Than English) First Conference will be hosted by Queens College (Flushing, New York), on May 4th, 2012.  The focus is on heritage learners and on incorporating culture in language teaching.

A call for proposals (deadline extended until April 15th) for presentations at the conference is here:

For presentations in Spanish, proposals may be submitted in Spanish or English

Some of the topics are:


* Heritage language courses
* Culture in the LOTE classroom
* National Standards into the language curriculum
* Language testing and assessment
* Language program evaluation
* Innovation in language teaching and learning
* The world languages in Queens, New York
* Media and /or Technology in the LOTE Classroom
* Literature in the LOTE classroom
