Dear colleagues, On Tuesday, March 31st Queens College will be hosting a talk from Donna Katzin, Executive Director of Shared Interest, a non-profit which works to engage banks to provide credit and micro loans to future small business owners. Event Title: Women in Leadership - Economic Justice in "Unbankable" Communities Date: Tuesday, March 31st Time: 5:00pm - 6:30pm Location: Campbell Dome More information: coyervides@qc.cuny.edu As part of the Year of South Africa, Queens College will host a presentation by Shared Interest -- a non-profit social investment fund that provides support for Southern Africa's economically disadvantaged communities to sustain themselves and build equitable nations. Launched the year Nelson Mandela was elected South Africa's President, Shared Interest provides access to credit and mentorship for microenterprise and small business owners, farmers and cooperative members - the vast majority of them women -- who would otherwise be considered "unbankable." The program -- which will highlight themes related to community and international development, impact investing, women's leadership, and strategies to promote social and economic justice -- is open to the entire campus community.
