Dear colleagues,

I'm writing to invite Socrates subscribers to a reading by novelist and essayist Siri Hustvedt at Queens College, on April 9 (6:30, Godwin Ternbach Museum). Hustvedt has written widely about art, literature, neuroscience, and psychology--including her New York Times blogs on sleep and dreams and migraine. She is the 2012 recipient of the Gabarron International Award for Thought and Humanities. In addition, Hustvedt has taught at Queens College. She returns to read and discuss her recent work, much of which puts the neurosciences and the humanities into productive dialogue, translating specialized research into language accessible to readers who may not be familiar with those disciplines.

The event is co-hosted by Writing at Queens, The MFA Program in Creative Writing and Literary Translation, and the English Department. See the attached flyer for more information.
