COIL: Building Your Partner Profile: an informational meeting today at 11 am

On behalf of the Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) at Queens College: Are you interested in creating impactful global learning for your students? Do you want to connect with faculty across national borders? The Office of the Provost at Queens College is pleased to announce the 2021 Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL)(https://coil.qc.cuny.edu/) Faculty Fellowships. In keeping with the international goals of Queens College (QC) and Working closely with the Center for Teaching and Learning (http://ctl.qc.cuny.edu/) the workshops will provide faculty support in the development of COIL into their courses. The aim of the COIL Faculty Fellowships is to offer select faculty the opportunity to learn about Collaborative Online International Learning, develop strategies for incorporating it into their courses, advance research with international colleagues, and expand QC’s global presence. Adding a COIL component to your course offers your students an opportunity to interact globally through virtual exchange without additional costs associated with physical mobility. While the COIL component takes place solely online, your course may be face-to-face, hybrid or fully online. New Federal Work Study Opportunity for Your Students

Dear Colleagues, I hope this email finds you well and enjoying the start of a new semester. We in the office of Honors and Scholarships are seeking a work study student but the description has not yet been posted on the Financial Aid website. It will be shortly, but we know that many students are currently looking for work in these challenging times. We'd appreciate your help recruiting eligible students. The description of the position is below, and we would like to receive your recommendations or your students' expressions of interest by Wednesday, February 17th. As the description indicates, the student will work primarily with me, but may be assigned other tasks in Honors. Previous students who have held this position have said they valued learning about fellowships and honing their presentation and communication skills. They also report that they have found the work to be a useful experience for their own applications to awards, graduate school or other jobs. Thank you very much for your assistance. Mellon Transformative Learning in the Humanities Faculty Fellows (Mellon TLH Faculty Fellows): Dear Colleagues, We are pleased to announce that applications are now open for our Fall 2021 and Spring 2022 peer-to-peer faculty seminars. Mellon TLH Faculty Fellows will work together in their cohorts to share and develop active, creative, participatory learning practices and pedagogical research designed to engage our CUNY students and help ensure their success in and beyond the classroom. They will receive $1,500 for their participation as well as formal recognition honoring their pedagogical work as a significant contribution to CUNY’s mission. CUNY faculty in the humanities, arts, and interpretive social sciences at all ranks, including adjuncts and graduate students, who are teaching at CUNY campuses are eligible to apply.
