Dear Colleagues, This year's CUE Conference will be held May 2, 2014, at LaGuardia Community College. Our theme is "Learning Inside and Outside the Classroom", and our keynote speaker will be Dr. George D. Kuh. Our goal for the conference is to bring together faculty and staff from across the university to share ideas and practices which reach across the institutional divisions which too often hinder our efforts to educate the "whole student". We want to hear about efforts to bridge the cognitive and affective dimensions of learning, or to influence the dispositions of students toward greater self-efficacy and, of course, toward more successful outcomes. We want to know how these innovations and collaborations are working, what impact they are having on how we teach and how students learn, and how their successes (or setbacks) can help us learn how to plan for the future. Our conference tracks reflect some of the sites where such efforts are often housed, but we also encourage presentations which cross these locations in the service of reaching the whole student. Our keynoter is an internationally recognized educator whose work has broken ground for many years in exactly the areas our conference will address. This fellowship program offers the following outstanding benefits to you including; * $2500 in professional development grants * Access to 2 summer internships at prestigious companies and organizations * Individual support from a Mentor Coach in your career field of interest. * Professional development workshops to help you to reach your career goals. The following are the eligibility requirements: * Neither of your parents have a bachelor's degree ( in any country) * You are US Citizen or Permanent Resident * You are a freshman attending a CUNY college (with less than 30 credits) * You are available to attend regular Saturday workshops in Manhattan 2 times a month. * Your family is considered low income During the past 2 years 10 Queens College students have been selected for the New York Needs You Fellowship. NICHE: Numeracy Infusion Course, call for participants (deadline Jan 24)

Greetings: Our colleagues at Lehman College are extending an invitation to QC full-time faculty, from any discipline, to participate in an intensive faculty development course focused on infusing quantitative reasoning instruction and assessment into undergraduate courses. Application materials are attached, as is a flyer describing the program in brief and a syllabus with details on the work involved. Participants receive a stipend of $1800 for work that will be concentrated over the 2014 summer.
