Friends: By now, you may have heard second- or third-hand reports that I am leaving Queens College. I wanted to take a moment to address these reports as well as answer any questions you may have about this. In short, what you have heard is true; my last day at Queens College will be Thursday, January 14, 2021. I have already shared this information with the SALT team, and now I am offering the same to the entire divisional staff team. The 15 ½ years I have spent at Queens College are quite honestly the best of my career. I will terribly miss working with each and every one of you, and I can’t even begin to fathom how much I will miss our incredible students and student leaders. While this is indeed unwelcome news for many reasons, I am choosing to view this as a chance for me to be fully open and accepting to the next opportunity, or opportunities, that await. Please know that although my journey is taking me away from Queens College at this time, I am not currently planning on leaving NYC. Once safe to do so, I sincerely hope I will be able to share physical spaces with you, and enjoy coffee/tea, a snack, etc. Happy holidays to all, and my best wishes for a successful completion to this academic year. Let’s all put our most positive thoughts and energies into healing from the pandemic, the political craziness, and most importantly the social injustice, racism, and discrimination that have plagued this country since its founding. Black lives matter; and ‘all lives’ can’t matter until Black lives matter! Be well, my friends.
