This one-day forum, titled Bringing Quality and Equity Together: Mapping Guided Pathways for First Generation Student Success, will be held in New York at the Wyndham New Yorker Hotel, on Tuesday, November 17. It is part of AAC&U's Centennial Year focus on bringing quality and equity together. Thanks to the generosity of major foundations supporting this exploration of quality, equity and inclusive excellence in higher education, there is no charge for your team to attend. We know that many institutions are taking a fresh look at the work on diversity, equity, inclusion and success for students from underserved communities. This Forum provides an opportunity for you and key leaders from your campus to work with others who share similar concerns. It also explores ways that you can tie your diversity/student success initiatives to the work your faculty and staff are doing on curriculum renewal and quality. This Centennial Forum will bring together educational, policy, and foundation leaders to examine the learning all college students need to thrive in a knowledge economy and to participate actively and responsibly in a diverse and global society. Participants also will examine the sobering evidence that both completion levels and access to quality learning remain highly stratified across income and race/ethnicity. Central to the Forum will be emerging evidence on "what works" in supporting higher levels of underserved student success, and especially the evidence that quality learning pathways that are rich in relevant, inquiry-based, engaged practices are themselves a catalyst to increased completion for underserved students. With new research on the value of guided pathways now in hand, the Forum will feature ways, in both broad access and selective institutions, that those guided pathways can contribute to the hallmark outcomes of a strong liberal-and liberating-education. A preliminary program is attached. You can find more information<http://www.aacu.org/centennial/forum/nyc> about the event online. The event is free of charge. To register, please follow this link<http://www.aacu.org/bringing-quality-and-equity-together-nov-2015>. A limited number of guest rooms at the meeting hotel will be available until Friday, October 16. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. I hope to see you and your colleagues on November 17th! Sincerely, [cid:image002.jpg@01D0E407.0883E530] Carol Geary Schneider President Association of American Colleges & Universities
