Many of you have been critically important in the recruitment effort and ultimate success of this initiative in the past, under Jennifer Jarvis' able leadership. It is my hope that you will continue to support this wonderful opportunity by identifying students this year and also sharing this announcement with key individuals who you think can provide nominations but are not currently included in the email addresses above. Please email me the names and contact information (including email addresses) of students who you believe could benefit from this important personal/professional development experience- by Wednesday, September 16, 2015. I will follow up and invite students directly. The first 10 students who accept will be able to participate. Many, many thanks for your assistance in helping our students access and participate in this meaningful event! All the best, Odalys Díaz Piñeiro, Ed.D. Acting Deputy Chief of Staff, Director of Strategic Initiatives Office of the President 65-30 Kissena Boulevard, Queens, NY 11367-1597 Kiely Hall 1209 | 718-997-5646 | Fax 718-997-5598 odalys.diazpineiro@qc.cuny.edu<mailto:odalys.diazpineiro@qc.cuny.edu> www.qc.cuny.edu<http://www.qc.cuny.edu> The details of this year's event are below: The eleventh annual CUNY Women's Leadership Conference, under the leadership of the Council of Presidents' Women's Leadership Initiative Committee, and co-sponsored by The New York Times in College will take place: Friday, October 30, 2015 8:15-8:50 am: Registration and Buffet Breakfast 9 am-4 pm: Program Hunter College/CUNY 68th Street and Lexington Avenue Manhattan The goal of this invitation-only conference is to inspire women students with demonstrated leadership qualities to further develop their skills and realize their potential as leaders. Perhaps the most important feature of this conference for the students who attend is that they have been especially selected to participate by their college presidents (via invitations extended by on-campus coordinators). The significance of this invitation sets the conference tone; students feel the empowerment of being acknowledged and rewarded. This year the conference theme is "Skills Building for Public and Community Service". We will replicate our proven format, introducing participants to a comprehensive, full day-long, program of speakers and panels, presentations by legislators and representatives of prominent women's organizations. We are especially pleased to announce that Donna E. Shalala, President and Chief Executive Officer, The Clinton Foundation, has confirmed her participation as the morning's keynote speaker. Her numerous and significant prior appointments include: President, Hunter College/CUNY; Chancellor, University of Wisconsin-Madison; Secretary, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services during the Clinton administration; and most recently, President, University of Miami.
