[SADivision 0415] Internship opps for youth involved in foster care/criminal justice
Good evening Student Affairs, On behalf of Zavi, This is a specific internship opp for students offered by the NYC Administration for Children's Services. It targets college internship program to college students who are either involved in the foster care or criminal justice areas. Recruiting participants for ACS' Fall Internship Program. Offered for the first time this year, the program will allow 100 youth to complete a virtual, paid internship, as well as receive workforce-related mentoring and training. It is made possible by a grant from the Robin Hood Foundation in collaboration with New Yorkers for Children. The program has two components/tracks: the College Internship and the Reconnect Internship * Participants in the College Internship must be * Ages 18 to 24; * In foster care in NYC, or involved with NYC's juvenile justice system; and * Currently attending college, planning to attend college in winter or spring 2021, or have attended college within the past year * Participants in the Reconnect Internship must be * Ages 16 to 24; * Living in NYC; * Currently not employed; and * Currently not attending school Key components of the program are: * Internship will be conducted entirely online and take place over an eight-week period: from October 26th through December 18th * A stipend of $2250 will be paid to each intern * Interns will work for 15 hours per week, with hours scheduled around their school responsibilities (for those in the College Internship) * Interns will be placed with supervisors at ACS, foster care agencies that participate in the Mentored Internship Program, and other nonprofit partners * In addition to work responsibilities, interns will participate in tech immersion workshops by Google and in career planning activities, as well as can take advantage of workplace safety/OSHA and security guard training.
